Goodbye John
By Kathy Evans
For many years now one of our best contributors has been John Gage. He is taking on a new position and will be leaving us. We will miss him greatly. Below is some information on the great things God is doing in John's life.
Kathy
Dear Communicator readers, for close to 10 years I have had the privilege of writing the "New Instrumental Music Review" for J&J. Now God is opening a new chapter in my life, and I wanted to share the following press release with you:
"JOHN GAGE TO JOIN THE GLOBAL MISSIONS PROJECT STAFF ASSUMING A NEW POSITION OF MINISTRY IN ATLANTA, GEORGIA.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
After nearly 25 years as a full-time church instrumental leader, John Gage will assume a key position with Global Missions Project in Atlanta, Georgia.
Atlanta, GA – April, 2005 — Global Missions Project announces that John Gage has been hired as Vice-President and Director of Global Community Ministries. He will begin in his new position in Atlanta, Georgia, on June 20, 2005.
For nearly 25 years, John Gage has been a nationally-renowned leader in many of the largest church music programs in the country. Through his work in the local church, John has helped define the modern church instrumental movement begun in the late 1970's.
In addition to overseeing the ministry coordination of all GMP projects, Mr. Gage will work directly with church music directors, state and denominational leaders, and field missionaries in the coordination of international music mission projects.
On his new appointment, Mr. Gage said:
"I am excited about this new phase in my life and believe God is calling me to make a global impact for Christ through music missions around the world. The amount of interest in international music missions has church musicians, and those who direct them, looking toward an outside agency like Global Missions Project for complete missions project management. Global Missions Project is the only non-profit organization of its kind in the country devoted to completely coordinating those who are called to go with those who need them to come. In addition, GMP will synchronize with mission agencies to become a clearing house of music mission requests from the field to state-side music leaders."
Brad Matheson, President and CEO of Global Missions Project, congratulated John in his new role:
"I can think of no other person with more heart and desire to see people's lives changed through their experiences outside the four walls of the church. John's gift of relationship building and his passion for leading others to life-changing events will influence generations of music mission participants."
John and his wife Ruth will be relocating to the Atlanta, Georgia, area in mid June, 2005, to assume his new duties on or around June 20th. You may contact him at jgage@globalmissionsproject.com."
